전투현장에서 발휘되는정신전력(精神戰力)의 전투효과 연구 방법론

Abstract

This study aims to raise awareness of the importance of mental power by researching mental power and military power from an academic and doctrinal perspective, confirming that mental power is a key element of military power, and quantifying and deriving how much it affects the combat effect in the battlefield as military power. Furthermore, we intend to contribute to the enhancement of military combat power by presenting a scientific analysis method that derives supplementary needs and priorities among each element that constitutes mental power. One of the five major policy tasks of the Ministry of National Defense in 2023 is strengthening mental power. However, in the last five years, more than 30% of defense spending has been used to build tangible power, such as acquiring weapons systems, but about 1.5% of education, personnel, and training for the construction of intangible power has been used. Of these, the cost of strengthening mental power is less than 0.1%. It is obvious that this imbalance in the construction of tangible and intangible power will lead to an imbalance in the exercise of combat power in the battlefield. The reason why defense spending to strengthen intangible forces, such as mental forces, is insignificant is that the figures for the increase in tangible forces can be clearly confirmed, but the direct combat effect of mental or intangible forces on the battlefield cannot be confirmed, so they lack recognition as military forces. Therefore, in order to clearly recognize the importance of mental power, scientific-based research is urgently needed to confirm the identity of mental power as a military power and to demonstrate its impact on the combat effectiveness in the battlefield.
