This study aimed to investigate the dance medicine and science subjects in the university curriculums of dance-affiliated departments in Korea and proposes a direction in Korea for the composition of the dance medicine and science curriculums by comparing it with other institutes. This study analyzed dance medicine and science curriculum from a total of 37 Korean 4-year dance-affiliated departments. Also, the curriculum proposed by the International Association for Dance Medicine and Science (IADMS), and the dance medicine and science curriculum of Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance were analyzed. The results of this study are as follows. First, as a result of analyzing the dance medicine and science curriculum operated in dance-affiliated departments in the universities of Korea, the courses consisted mainly of applied subjects rather than basic subjects, and practical subjects rather than theoretical subjects. Second, as a result of examining other institutes, the dance medicine and science curriculum was classified into basic stage, extended stage, and applied stage. In order to train dance medicine and science experts to perform various roles not only in the performance industry but also in the wellness and fitness fields, this study proposes a systematic step for the dance medicine and science curriculum; an introductory subject in dance medicine and science that provides a comprehensive understanding of anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology (step 1), an applied subject of dance rehabilitation and body conditioning that comprehensively implements theory and practice (step 2), and an expanded subject of the develops dance programs based on scientific evidence (step 3).
