Abstract
The purpose of this study is to propose a method to directly measure the gas temperature in Charles' law experiment which measures the volume change according to the temperature change of the gas. For this purpose, the preceding studies related to Charles' law were analyzed first. Based on this Charles' law experimental device that can directly measure the gas temperature using a wireless temperature sensor was constructed and the experiment was performed. The result of directly measuring the gas temperature using the wireless temperature sensor was compared and analyzed with the measured value of the temperature of the water immersed in the gas volume measurement tool which is the existing experimental method. As a result of the experiment, the measured value when the gas temperature was directly measured was lower than that when the measured value was indirectly measured through the water temperature. From the result of verifying the effectiveness of the improved experimental method through scientific interpretations, it was found that several existing experimental methods that indirectly measured the gas temperature through the temperature of the water had systematic errors. The significance of this study can be found in that it suggests an experimental method that can provide students with more accurate data about Charles' law experiment amid changes in educational policy that emphasizes data-based scientific inquiry.
