Abstract

This article explain the innovative achievements of Korean popular culture today based on the cultural attitude naturally learned through the historical experiences. To survive naturally in between the world powers, the Korean people learned their own survival strategy in the living and ‘a specific attitude faced with the given circumstance’ based on this, and this attitude became a stepping to create innovative cultural contents called ‘Hallyu’ throughout the popular culture of Korea today. This cultural attitude, in this article, is suggested in four codes: Segmental probability, Intuitive sachlichkeit, Sudden practicability, and Artificial naturalism. A segmental probability is an attitude dealing with others flexibly as an individual or a community composed of several nodes, an intuitive sachlichkeit is an attitude grasping the given circumstance intuitively without bypassing it, a sudden practicability is an attitude acting to exert its internal power suddenly even in a disconnected situation from the previous stage, and an artificial naturalism is an attitude composing an artificial thing as if natural one by applying an artificial process instead of that doesn’t take for granted the natural. These attitudes, in the view of contemporary philosophy, can theoretically be supported by Park Donghwan's Discourse Three Criteria, Merleau-Ponty's Phenomenology, Perth and Dewey's Pragmatism and Ham Sukheon's Ssial Thought (Ssial Sasang). These cultural attitudes are transformed and showed in various ways in the drama <Dae Jang Geum>, <BTS>’ K-Pop, and Director Bong Joon-ho's film <Parasite>, which are the representative ‘Hallyu’ today.
