Abstract
This study aimed to examine the mediating effect of self-control on the relationship between cadet stress, trait anxiety and smartphone overdependence among KMA cadets. For this purpose, a questionnaire consisting of the cadet stress, trait anxiety, smartphone overdependence and self-control was administered to all cadets and analyzed using SPSS 27.0 and AMOS 24.0. The results of this study are as follows. First, there were significant correlations between cadet stress, trait anxiety, smartphone overdependence, and self-control. Second, the mediation effect test using structural equation modeling showed that self-control was fully mediated by the relationship between cadet stress and smartphone overdependence and between trait anxiety and smartphone overdependence respectively. These findings suggest the need to provide psychological support, including specific individual and group counseling interventions, to expand the understanding of cadet stress, trait anxiety and smartphone use experienced by KMA cadets during cadet life, and to improve self-control of smartphone overdependence to promote cadets' organizational adaptation and psychological well-being.
