초록

The quality of voice is a crucial consideration in patients undergoing thyroid surgery. Effective management begins with a comprehensive voice examination and counseling before the procedure. To minimize the risk of injury to the recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN) and the external branch of the superior laryngeal nerve (EBSLN), intraoperative neuromonitoring (IONM) serves as a valuable tool for preserving and assessing nerve function. In cases of nerve sacrifice, reinnervation techniques might significantly improve postoperative vocal outcomes. A variety of treatment methods, including injection laryngoplasty and laryngeal framework surgery, are available depending on individual patient needs. Voice issues might arise even without direct nerve injury, a condition often termed post- thyroidectomy syndrome. Regardless of the presence or absence of nerve damage during surgery, early detection and rehabilitation efforts can enhance vocal recovery. This article aims to highlight the most current management strategies designed to improve vocal outcomes in patients following thyroidectomy.
