Although Resistance Temperature Detectors (RTDs) offer a wide temperature range and high accuracy, their nonlinear characteristics, slow response, and susceptibility to self-heating and gamma heating limit their performance in real-time systems. This paper presents an FPGA-based embedded system that enables real-time RTD temperature acquisition within 1ms by solving the Callendar–Van Dusen (CVD) equation using the Newton-Raphson method, instead of relying on lookup tables. This approach overcomes the resolution and memory limitations associated with conventional methods. Furthermore, the application of an Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) minimizes temperature estimation errors caused by sensor noise and nonideal effects. Experimental results demonstrate improved accuracy and stability, making the system suitable for high-reliability embedded environments.
