청소년비행의 원인에 관한 사회학습, 사회유대, 일반긴장이론적 접근

이 연구는 허쉬(Hirschi)의 사회유대이론(social bonding theory), 에이커스(Akers)의 사회학습이론(social learning theory), 애그뉴(Agnew)의 일반긴장이론(general strain theory)을 이용하여 청소년비행의 원인을 설명하고자 한다. 이 연구의 목적은 위 세 가지 비행이론 중에서 어떤 이론이 한국청소년비행의 원인을 가장 잘 설명하는지를 살펴보는 데 있다. 이 연구는 한국청소년정책연구원이 2009년과 2010년도에 수행한 아동청소년패널조사 1차년도와 2차년도 자료 중 중1과 중2 패널자료를 사용하였다. 다중회귀분석결과, 사회유대이론의 변인들은 청소년비행을 거의 설명하지 못했으며 일반긴장이론의 일부 변인들과 사회학습이론의 모든 변인들은 청소년비행을 잘 설명하는 것으로 나타났다. 즉 사회유대 변인과 일반긴장이론의 변인들은 청소년비행의 변량을 각 각 2.4%, 7.7%만을 설명하고 있지만 사회학습 변인은 청소년비행의 11.3% 변량을 설명함으로써 설명력이 가장 뛰어난 것으로 드러났다. 특히 사회학습이론의 변인 중에서 친한 친구와의 차별적 접촉 변인은 분석에 사용된 모든 회귀방정식에서 99.9%의 신뢰수준 내에서 청소년비행을 통계적으로 잘 설명하고 있었다. 이 연구는 청소년비행의 원인을 밝히기 위해 청소년비행이론에서 가장 많이 검증된 세 가지 이론을 동시에 적용한 연구라는 점에서 중요한 의미를 지닌다.
Abstract
This study seeks to explain the causes of juvenile delinquency by using Hirschi’s social bonding theory, Akers’ social learning theory, and Agnew’s general strain theory. The main purpose of this study is to determine how well each of the theories do and how well they do so compared to each other in explaining juvenile delinquency. The data are collected from a sample of 2,280 middle school students taken from the National Youth Policy Institute in 2010. Multiple OLS regression analysis indicated that social learning theory was strongly supported as an explanation for juvenile delinquency, while general strain theory was supported to some extent. When social learning variables are excluded from the full equation, the change in R2 is dramatic, indicating that it is the social learning factors that have the greatest impact on dependent variables than other theories. The most important implication of this study is that it is the first study to test three major theoretical models and in doing so, makes a number of important contributions toward the further utilization of social learning in investigating juvenile delinquency amongst Korean middle school students.
