초록
For years, English education in South Korea has been in an inactive state from th global depression and also from the societyʼs disappointment with high-cost-low-efficiency English education for the last decades, from th 1990s to early 2000s. In a word, after the English fever in 1990s, South Korea has lost the ʻʻgrowth engineʼʼ in English education. Now as English educators and policy makers have tried to find new ʻʻgrowth engineʼʼ in English education. Unfortunately, however, global depression makes us English educators feel helpless until now. Even worse, rapid change around the world pushes us to find new ʻʻgrowth engineʼʼ for our future generation. What is required is not a revised and recycled version or mixed reuse of old methods, but a totally new innovative and creative methods that can include existing valuable resources and knowhow as well as new ICT an DT and AI-based future methods for the future generation. Based on the current situation in Korean ELT contexts, this paper delves into the possibility of drama for convergence-based Education for students in regular English classes and after-school classes. Although this idea may have to be supported by empirical research, and school teachersʼ practical ideas, it is still worth suggesting new ideas for convergence-based English education trough English drama.
