Abstract

Yangpyung (양평) region was utilized by the basis or assembly place of Righteous army in Kyungki province in late Yi danasty. Confucian 'Yee choon yung' (이춘영), 'An seng woo' (안승우) come from Yangpyung and previous soldier 'Kim back sun' (김백선) organized Righteous army, improve to 'Jechun' (제천) Righteous army. And 'with his Righteous army in 1895-1896. After 1907, 'Kwon dek soo' (권득수), 'Jo in whan' (조인환) who was born in Yangpyung, Righteous army's leader fought with Japanese troops at 'Yangpyung', 'Yeojoo' (여주), 'lcheon' (이천) and died for country. 'Yee yun nyun' (이연년) succeeded his father Yee seng ryong's unfinished work also organized Righteous army but he arrested in fighting and suffered pain in prison. Yee in young (이인영) commander in chief of '13Do righteous army' (13도의병) fought a terrible battle with Japanese troops in Samsanri (삼산리). Yangpyung region suffered heavy damage. Many Righteous armies and residents were slaughtered by Japanese troops, and hundreds of the houses were destruction by Japanese troops's fire. Yongmum temple(용문사), sangwon temple (상원사), and sana temple (사나사) in Yangpyung were fired, too. But Yangpyung' Righteous army fought without regard to dead through out generations. The achievements of their lifetime will be inscribed in our history.
