In this work, we investigate whether mathematically optimized drug administration protocols can outperform conventional empirical dosing regimens by formulating chemotherapy scheduling as an optimal control problem with isoperimetric constraints. For this, using the established pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic model, we derive optimal dosing strategies that minimize tumor burden while maintaining fixed total drug dosage. Our research reveals theoretically that the derived bang-bang control achieves superior and prolonged tumor growth inhibition compared to standard uniform daily administration schedules.
