Abstract
· Research topics: This study reviews crisis-level responses at the private medical level during the COVID-19 pandemic and analyzes the management-oriented crisis response process of nursing organizations from a mechanism-based perspective. The organization applied the ser-M model to overcome the crisis after switching to a hospital dedicated to infectious diseases. · Research background: Research on nursing manpower management, resource management, infection prevention management, and nursing work for patients with infectious diseases was needed to respond more efficiently in crisis situations such as COVID-19. · Differences from prior research: Various factors were comprehensively considered by applying the ser-M model, and practical countermeasures that could help in the event of an event such as a COVID-19 crisis situation were presented. · Research method: 1) According to the crisis management theory, how the COVID-19 crisis response process was handled at each crisis stage was described. 2) After switching to a dedicated hospital for COVID-19, the crisis response process at the nursing organizational-level for the COVID-19 crisis was explained using the ser-M framework. 3) The impact of crisis response was analyzed by the recovery rate, mortality rate, hospitalization days, and infection rate of medical providers during the COVID-19 exclusive period. · Research results: The ser-M model was applied in various crisis situations in response to the COVID-19 infectious disease crisis to present nursing organizational countermeasures that comprehensively consider subject factors, environmental factors, resource factors, and mechanism factors (activity and related factors, and effectiveness evaluation and recovery strategy for the COVID-19 crisis response). · Contribution points and expected effects: The first case in Korea to cohort quarantine the entire hospital for efficient crisis response in a sudden infectious disease crisis situation, and can be used as basic data for patient management and nursing organization-level preparation and response process.
