초록
Interaction of frequencies in any given sound have a complexity beyond human hearing or understanding. These interactions are the result of “phasing” or the superimposition of two or more waves against, opposed and in synchronization with each other. Phasing cre-ates moments of produced frequencies within the range of human hearing. This can be used as a method for 12-tone row compositional techniques beyond the traditional variations – retrograde, transposition, inversion, retrograde-inversion, etc. – by using half-rows to produce compositional rows through phasing of arbitrary and filtered frequencies.
Abstract
Interaction of frequencies in any given sound have a complexity beyond human hearing or understanding. These interactions are the result of “phasing” or the superimposition of two or more waves against, opposed and in synchronization with each other. Phasing cre-ates moments of produced frequencies within the range of human hearing. This can be used as a method for 12-tone row compositional techniques beyond the traditional variations – retrograde, transposition, inversion, retrograde-inversion, etc. – by using half-rows to produce compositional rows through phasing of arbitrary and filtered frequencies.
