In the fifth year of Tianqi Emperor’s reign in Ming Dynasty (1625, the third year of King Injo’s reign in Joseon Dynasty), Emperor Tianqi installed Crown Prince and then sent a special envoy, Jiang Yueguang, to spread the imperial news to King Injo. Jiang Yueguang wrote lots of travels notes during the mission and after sorting them out, compiled a book named You Xuan Mission Record. In the book, he kept a detailed record of his mission to Joseon. The book is of great importance in studying the society of Joseon at that time and the facts of Mao Wenlong’s battles, and China- Joseon relationship.
Abstract
