본 연구에서는 국가경쟁력 보고서로부터 클러스터의 발전단계를 계량화하여 경쟁력과의 관계를 분석하고 발전단계의 유형화를 시도하였다. 60개국을 대상으로 회귀분석을 한 결과 클러스터 변수들과 경쟁력 순위 사이에 비교적 높은 정의 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 군집분석을 통해 60개 비교대상 국가들을 3개의 카테고리로 분류하였다. 분석결과 경제발전 수준이나 경쟁력 순위가 클러스터 발전단계의 유형화와 대체로 일치하는 경향을 보이지만 군집분석에 의한 클러스터 발전단계의 유형화가 일반적으로 알려진 경제발전 수준과 차이를 보이는 경우도 적지 않았다. 판별분석에 의해 3개 독립변수에 의한 3개 카테고리 분류가 개별국가들의 클러스터 발전단계를 얼마나 판별력 있게 구분할 수 있는지 검정하였다. 분석결과 판별함수의 통계적 유의성이 높고 분석의 설명력이나 적합도가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 세가지 클러스터 관련변수 중 가 가장 중요하고 판별력이 큰 것으로 나타났다.
Abstract
This study aims to explore the extent of cluster development and to try categorization of clusters by using national competitiveness reports (WEF and IPS). Regression analysis shows relatively high positive relations between cluster variables and competitiveness ranks among sixty countries. Sixty countries for comparison were classified into three categories through cluster analysis. We found that categories of cluster development and economic level or competitiveness ranks mostly coincide. But in some cases, categorization of cluster development disagree with generally known economic level of each nation. We tested whether the categories derived from discriminant analysis using three independent variables can distinguish the extent of cluster development appropriately. The result showed that discriminant function is statistically significant, and that is most important and discriminant among three cluster variables.
