Purpose: Prior researchers’ datasets have not addressed the gap on why there is a lack of consistent implementation of key elements of information security. In this research, the research will examine materials of literature and suggest the role of ISS and its key components. Findings will inform institutions on the role of the key elements in promoting ISS. Research design, data and methodology: The study optimizes the prism approach to examine secondary literature, research materials, and journals to identify elements of information security standards. The keywords include "data management," "Data Standards," "Interoperability," "Metadata," "Data Quality," "Security," and "Privacy and Governance." Many secondary resources were collected and censored to examine their relationship with the theme under the study. Results: The findings of the present study strongly suggested that there are four key elements of information security standard (ISS) as follows, (1) Confidentiality, (2) Authenticity, (3) Risk Management, and (4) Data Integrity. Conclusions: The changing corporate environment and issues are shaping all industries to ensure that data breaches are addressed and managed to protect users from losing information. It provides all procedures that are implemented to improve data authenticity and use. Promoting the security of the data through complex protocols is therefore defined in standardization and governance.
