경찰공무원의 외상경험이 PTSD에 미치는 영향 : 분노표현 방식의 조절효과를 중심으로

본 연구의 목적은 경찰공무원의 역기능적 분노표현방식이 외상사건의 경험과 PTSD 증상간에 조절효과를 가질 수 있는지 알아보는 것이다. 이를 위해 경기지방 경찰공무원 1,500명을 대상으로 설문지를 배포하였고, 그 중 1,304부가 분석에 사용되었다. 가설 검증을 위해서는 구조방정식을 실시하였다. 그 결과, 대상자들이 평균적으로 경험한 외상사건은 12개를 상회하였고 주관적 고통감은 보통 이하로 적은편이었으나, 겪고 있는 증상들을 보면 3~4명중 1명 정도가 PTSD 진단이 고려될 수 있는것으로나타났다. 또, 외상사건을 추가로 1 단위 더 경험할수록충격은 0.08만큼 증가하였으며, 외상사건의 충격을 통해서 PTSD의 수준은 0.68만큼 증가되는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 외상사건으로부터 경험하는 주관적 충격과 PTSD 증상간의관계는 역기능적 방식인 분노억제를 통해서만이 조절되는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는추후 경찰공무원의 PTSD 예방프로그램에 분노관리가 중요한 역할을 할 수 있음을 시사한다. 마지막으로 본 연구의 제한점에 대해 논의하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relation oftraumatic events and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder(PTSD), andmoderating effect of anger expression for police officers. Questionnaire survey was conducted for 1600 police officer atprovincial Gyeonggi. To evaluate the hypothetical model, structuralequation modeling was used. Findings in the current study showedthat one unit increase in traumatic event was related to 0.68 unitincrease in traumatic impact. Additionally, if police officersexperienced one more traumatic event they experienced 0.42 timesmore PTSD symptoms through traumatic impact. Finally, the effectsof the number of experienced traumatic events on its impact wasmoderated by anger expression. The results implied that policeofficer's PTSD level was high and an intervention is necessary toreduce the level. The anger expression should be considered indesigning prevention programs. Finally, implication and limitation ofthis study are discussed.
