프랑스 미디어테크의 공간구성유형에 관한 연구

Abstract

As the médiathèque takes role of cultural hub including the information research or storage function in the community, it started to incorporate a variety of community programs under which context the external space became the internal one as its spatial characteristics. This is interpreted not as traditional symbolic concept of central space but as intensification of public nature in the modern public facility through community and openness. The centric nature started from Boullee's library proposal in early modern society and continued in spatial structure aspects in spite of form/functional changes in the society, while the Research space had non-continuous characteristics due to the changes in functional spaces. In early 20th century, as noticed in Tony Garnier Industrial Bibliothèque Cite industrielle, proposal and Le Corbusier La Bibliothèque de la Cite Mondiale proposal, there is no spatial hierarchy that incorporated in great space in the center. Accordingly, when the changes in the spatial system of the public libraries are examined based on the times and in terms of the hierarchy/non-hierarchy and of whether there is centric space from the previous generations, it was noted that the tendencies of centric spaces in early modern society got weak and changed by the 21st century médiathèque and its public nature created by the connectivity between the external spaces. The médiathèque is comprised of the open stacks system type of Information and Research. Namely, the parallel organization of the Information Research disappeared the hierarchy between the two programs and the inside of the libraries have open spaces without wall to maximize the Information and human Interaction through the overlapping boundaries.
