초록
The advancement of industrial society has increased the complexity of maxillofacial fractures, with the mandible being particularly susceptible. Genial tubercle fractures (GTF), though rare, can cause upper airway obstruction and long-term complications like obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). This case report discusses a 56-year-old male with multiple mandibular fractures from an industrial accident. He underwent surgical treatment for the mandibular symphysis fracture and conservative treatment for GTF. Post-surgery, he developed temporomandibular disorder (TMD), trismus, and sleep apnea. The case highlights the need for early surgical intervention for GTF to prevent complications such as OSA and ensure proper muscle function and airway integrity.
