최근 네트워크 부문은 보편화된 기술이 되고 있다. 지난 과거의 장비 구매 및 투자 형태와는 다른 양상으로 변해가고 있으며, 투자가 적정한 규모로 진행이 되고 있는지에 대하여 고려가 되고 있다. 아직도 저 비용으로 더 좋은 네트워크 환경과 고도의 IT 성능을 요구하고 있다. 특히 교육부문에 종사하는 IT 부서의 경우, 네트워크 및 시스템의 사용이 년 간 기준으로 산정 시 일정하지 않은데, 사용한 양에 대하여만 비용을 지불하는 방식에 대하여 고려를 해 보는 것이다. 예를 들어 여름 및 겨울 방학 때, 주말 및 야간 시간 등에는 거의 네트워크를 사용을 하지 않기 때문에 사용량에 대하여만 비용을 지불하는 방식을 고려해 보아야 한다. 이러한 방식은 IT 예산이 줄어든 상황에서 고려해 볼 수 있는 새로운 대안인데, 이를 “네트워크 온 디멘드(Network on Demand:NoD)”라 명칭 한다. NoD는 실질적으로 사용하는 네트워크 사용량에 대하여 지불하는 방식으로 기존의 전통적인 일괄 구매 방식인 CAPEX(Capital Expenditure) 혹은 월별로 지불하는 리스 방식에 비하여 비용을 절감할 수 있는 상당히 효과적인 방식이다. 이 모델 적용을 통하여 사용자는 상당한 비용을 절감할 수 있으며, 고가의 비용을 지불하면서 장비를 일괄적으로 구매할 필요가 없어지고 또한 인건비도 상당하게 절약할 수 있는 방안으로 대두가 되고 있다. 이러한 NoD 적용을 통하여 구체적으로 어느 정도의 비용이 절약이 되고 조직에 효과적인지에 대하여 본 연구를 통하여 고찰해 보고자 한다.
Abstract
In recent years, the network sector has become a widespread technology, and it is considered a light sizing, a different aspect of the size of the purchase and investment of equipment from the past. Yet, a better network and IT performance is expected with less money to spend. If you’re in an industry or sector such as education, where your needs fluctuate greatly throughout the year, you may be able to take advantage of a system where you only pay for what you use. This way – in low use summer months, weekends and nights – you save money by paying only for the resources you use. This more efficient way to use your IT budget is a new networking delivery model called "Network on Demand"(NoD). NoD services are delivered on a pure pay-per-use basis instead of the traditional capital expenditure(CAPEX) and monthly licensing model. This method allows you to use the network, when you need it, and pay for only that use. This could mean huge cost savings for your organization. The expensive part of the network, beyond buying the equipment, is the labor of time consuming network management that keeps everything operational. Through the introduction of NoD, a study is conducted to know the specific cost savings and effectiveness for organization.
