초록
Biodegradable mulch films (BDMs) are recognized as eco-friendly materials for sustainable agriculture. However, the degradation rate of the BDMs is known to be affected by various soil physiochemical and biological factors. In this study one LDPE mulch film and two Poly butylene adipate-co-terephthalate (PBAT)-based BDMs were buried in three agricultural soils (GS, JJ, and YW) with different period of exposure to BDMs and incubated at 28°C for 8 weeks. The two BDMs were degraded only in the soil YW, one with the longest period of exposure to BDMs, up to 80% and 31% of the initial areas of the films, respectively, for 8 weeks. The difference in soil physicochemical properties showed little correlation with the difference in the degradation rate among the soils. The analysis of the microbial communities during the degradation of one of the films showed that the structures of the bacterial and fungal communities on the biodegradable mulch film were dramatically different from those in the bulk soil and on the LDPE film. It also showed that the fungal genera Paraphoma, Purpureocillium, and Setophoma were significantly enriched on the biodegradable films. Strains of the genera of Peurpureocillium, Plectosphaerella, and Rhizobacter forming a clear zone in the solid media with PBAT were isolated from the soil YW. This study suggested that longer exposure to BDMs can facilitate more rapid degradation of the BDMs in the soils due to the enrichment of the microorganisms degrading the main components of the films.
Abstract
Biodegradable mulch films (BDMs) are recognized as eco-friendly materials for sustainable agriculture.
