초록

As positive politeness, agreement is frequently dealt with in EFL contexts through textbook materials. To understand native use of language, online conversation is utilized to investigate agreement expressions in English. Findings of the study reveal some patterns regarding the behavior of English agreement. The role of lexical items has been noted in expressing agreement. For teaching agreement, it should be aware of using some common expressions. Results of chats are compared to textbooks materials resulting in differences between the two types of data. These results reveal limitations with language teaching based on textbooks materials. Instructors of language need to complement information that misses in EFL context.
