한부모 이주여성의 가족해체와 자립 과정에 대한 연구: 자립지원시설에서의 경험을 중심으로

최근 다문화가족의 이혼율이 증가하고 있어 자녀양육을 책임지고 있는 한부모 이주여성에 대한 사회적 논의가 필요하다. 본 연구는 한부모 이주여성 자립지원시설에 대한 사례연구로 경제적으로 취약한 한부모 이주여성을 위한 공적 지원체계인 자립지원시설에 대한 역할과 기능을 규명하고, 나아가 이들의 안정적인 가족생활을 지원할 수 있는 서비스와 정책적 대안을 제시하고자 한다. 본 연구에서는 이주배경을 가진 여성들이 한국에서 경험했던 가족생활과 이혼 후 자립지원시설에서의 생활경험을 탐색하기 위해 질적 사례연구 방법을 활용하였다. 자료수집을 위해 시설에서 생활하고 있는 한부모 이주여성 6명과 심층 면접을 실시하였다. 본 연구 결과 4개의 주제와 8개의 범주로 도출되었다. 4개의 주제는 1)국제결혼 결정: 한국사회로의 이주 2)가족 생활: 힘의 불균형 3)가족 해체: 불리한 이혼 4)한부모가족 형성: 시설 생활을 통한 역량 강화와 자립의 시작으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 다문화가족의 가족해체로 한부모 이주여성이 증가하고 있으나 자립이 어려운 실정에서 정책수립 시 고려되어야 할 점들을 제시함으로써 한국사회에서 주목받지 못하고 있는 한부모 이주여성의 자립 지원 담론화에 기여하였다.
Abstract
The number of multicultural families has increased rapidly in Korea since the mid-1990s due to international marriages. Recently, the number of divorces in multicultural families have been consistently increasing in Korea. The study focuses on examining how living in a self-reliance facility affects the lives of immigrant single mothers, through a qualitative case study. The data collection method consisted of in-depth interviews with six immigrant single mothers living in the facility. The results of this study are as follows: 1) Decisions ofinternational m arriage; m igration t o K orean s ociety; 2 ) F amily life; Power imbalance; 3) Family breakdown; Helpless immigrant women; 4) Formation of a single-parent family; Enhancement of competency and begin ning of independence by living in the facility. The participants of the study were divorced from their husbands due to violence and joined a self-reliance facility to raise their children alone. These women were able to regain confidence at the facility through care and education, while also achieving both mental and financial independence. This study contributes to the discourse on the selfreliance support of migrant, single-parent women in situations where it is difficult for them to become self-reliant due to dissolution of multicultural families.
