5･18 광주민주화운동 위기의식과 글로벌코리안 연대 활동 고찰 : 세계호남향우회를 중심으로

이 연구는 ‘임을 위한 행진곡’의 제창･합창을 둘러싼 5･18 광주민주화운동의 위기 속에서 세계호남인들이 결속하게 된 경위를 살펴보는 데 있다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 한국의 산업화 시기에 호남인들은 생활환경이 열악한 고향을 떠나 타지로 향했다. 서울 경기 등 수도권지역으로의 이동이 압도적으로 많았지만, 부산･경남･경북지역 등 국내에서 거듭 이동하게 되었다. 둘째, 세계호남인의 결속은 집단 내부에 공유하고 있는 ‘거시기’로서 통하는 사회적 인지와 암묵적 인지로써 호남인의 정서와 호남인의 정신이 깔려 있기 때문으로 생각된다. 셋째, 세계호남향우회는 동일한 역사적 경험과 문화를 공유한 호남인의 역사적 산물이자 5･18 광주민주화운동이 탄생시킨 지역공동체 운동이라 할 수 있다. 넷째, ‘임을 위한 행진곡’은 5･18 광주민주화운동의 상징적인 노래로 정권 교체기에 갈등이 표출되는 양상을 보여왔는데 이러한 위기의식은 세계호남인을 결속시키는 역할을 해왔다. 다섯째, 세계호남인향우회의 ‘3무 정책’은 ‘약한 연대(Weak Ties)’의 효과를 최대화하여 호남인들이 글로벌 연대를 조직하여 협력할 수 있는 원동력이 되었다. 결론적으로 세계호남향우회는 지방자치단체의 지원과 회원의 자발적 장학금 모금을 통한 차세대 지역인재 양성으로 지속이 가능한 모국방문 프로그램의 가능성을 보여준 것으로 생각된다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine how Honam people around the world came to unite in the midst of the crisis of the 5･18 Gwangju Democratization Movement. The results of the study are as follows. First, the solidarity of Honam people around the world is thought to be due to the Honam people's emotions and Honam people's spirit as social cognition and implicit cognition that lead to the 'GEOSIGI' shared within the group. Second, the World Honam Association can be said to be a historical product of Honam people who shared the same historical experience and culture, and a local community movement created by the 5･18 Gwangju Democratization Movement. Third, ‘March for Beloved’ is a symbolic song of the 5･18 Gwangju Democratization Movement, showing the aspect of conflicts being expressed during the regime change, and this sense of crisis played a role in uniting Honam people around the world. In conclusion, the World Honam Homecoming Association is thought to have shown the possibility of a sustainable homeland visit program by nurturing next-generation local talent through support from local governments and voluntary scholarship fundraising by members.
