Abstract

In this paper, a hardware-based battery management system (BMS) was designed by applying an algorithm thatcombines CC(Columb Counting) and OCV(Open Circuit Voltage) to accurately estimate the remaining power(State-of-Charge, SOC), which is a key indicator in electric vehicles and energy storage devices. The proposedsystem was implemented on the FPGA and verified the operation of the hardware through the ARM Cortex-M0 andAMBA APB interfaces. The implemented module estimates and updates SOC in real time using voltage, current, andtemperature data and transmits it to the outside as a BLE(Bluetooth Low Energy). As a result of the verification, itwas confirmed that it operates stably under both CC and OCV conditions. Through this, it has been demonstratedthat it can contribute to securing safety, reducing weight, improving efficiency, and improving user experience.
