(본 소고는 2018년 4월 28일 한국 복음주의 구약신학회 논문 발표회에서 발표했던 논문이며 그것을 수정 및 보완해서 작성했다. 또한 본 소고는 지난 호에서 심사후 탈락되었으나 요구된 사항을 수정하여 재심사를 요청하며 기고를 올린다. * 참고로 빨간색으로 처리한 부분이 수정된 부분입니다.) 구약의 제의 체계에서 부정결은 전염된다는 것은 분명하나 거룩은 과연 그런 전염력을 가졌는지에 대해 학자들의 견해가 나뉜다. 본 소고는 어떤 사람과 사물이 거룩해지기 위해서는 제의적 "절차”가 필요하며, 반대로 그것들이 더럽혀지는 결과는 “불법적 접촉”을 통해서 발생된다고 주장한다. 부정결과의 “접촉”은 모두가 인정하듯이 자동적으로 부정결이 접촉된 사람과 사물에 전염되는 결과를 가져온다. 그러나 흔히 알려지는 대로 성물과의 “접촉”을 통해서도 사람과 사물에 자동적으로 거룩이 전염되는지에 대해서는 의문이다. 본 소고는 과연 구약의 제의 체계에서 거룩의 속성이 접촉을 통해 사람과 사물에게 전염될 수 있는 것인지 살핀다. 관련 본문들은 출애굽기 29:37; 30:29와 레위기 6:18, 24-30; 에스겔 44:19; 46:20; 학개 2:11-14이다. 이 연구를 통해 우리는 구약의 제의 체계에서 거룩은 "전염성"(contamination)을 갖지 않으며, 오히려 "전달성"(communication)을 갖는다는 것을 증명하고 주장하려 한다. 거룩의 힘은 마치 전기와 같은 성격을 지녀 접촉 대상에 전달되나 머무르지 않지만, 부정결의 힘은 마치 습기와 같은 성격을 지녀 접촉 대상에 전염되어 머문다.
Abstract
This paper was presented on April 28, 2018 at the spring meeting of the Korean Evangelical Old Testament Society. It is revised and supplemented for publication. In the ritual system of the Old Testament, it is clear that impurity is contagious, but scholars have divergent views on whether holiness has such an contagious power. This paper claims that some people and things are sanctified through "ritual procedures," and conversely, they are polluted through "illegal contact". Admittedly the "contact" with impurity automatically leads to the contamination of people and objects with it. However, it is doubtful whether the "contact" with holiness will automatically transmit holiness to people and things. We examine whether the attribute of holiness can be contaminated to people and things through contact like impurity in the system of the Old Testament. Related texts are found in Exodus 29:37; 30:29 and Leviticus 6:18, 24-30; Ezekiel 44:19; 46:20; Haggai 2: 11-14. Through this study we attempt to prove that holiness in the ritual system of the Old Testament has no "power of contamination", but rather has "power of communication". The power of holiness is like electricity. Thus it is communicated to the object by contact and does not stay on it. But the power of impurity resembles moisture. Thus it contaminates the object by contact and stay on it.
