초록

Step-pool sequences are dominent landforms in mountain streams, and located in areas that are challenging for humans to access. This study aimed to enhance accessibility to step-pools in mountain streams using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). Using orthophotos and digital surface models (DEMs) generated by UAVs, the study explored the location and geometry of step-pool in mountain streams. The findings of this research indicated that using UAV to identify step-pools in mountain stream channels was highly feasible, and geometry could also be extracted from DSM. Step-pools were classified into bedrock and boulder steps, and data on step wavelength, height, slope, and pool area were obtained. However, due to the challenging nature of remote mountain areas, errors were observed in regions where mobile network accessibility was limited. Nevertheless, the results of this study offer insights into alternative research methods for improving accessibility to remote step-pools in mountain streams.
