25.0과 SPSS PROCESS macro ver.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to verify the mediating effect of loss perception on the relationship between disability acceptance and suicidal ideation in individuals with disabilities. Data were collected through a survey of 318 individuals with disabilities selected using purposive sampling from 35 welfare facilities for people with disabilities nationwide. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS PC+ Win ver. 25.0 and SPSS PROCESS macro ver. 4.2, and the research findings are as follows. First, the difference test showed that suicidal ideation did not significantly differ based on gender, educational level, marital status, or presence of multiple disabilities. Second, correlation analysis among the key variables indicated a negative correlation between disability acceptance and loss perception as well as between disability acceptance and suicidal ideation, while a positive correlation was found between loss perception and suicidal ideation. Third, the analysis of the mediating effect of loss perception on the relationship between disability acceptance and suicidal ideation confirmed that loss perception acts as a mediator. Specifically, lower levels of disability acceptance were associated with higher levels of loss perception, and in the relationship between disability acceptance and suicidal ideation, higher loss perception was linked to increased suicidal ideation. Based on these findings, strategies to reduce suicidal ideation by enhancing disability acceptance and alleviating loss perception among individuals with disabilities were suggested.
