초록

본 연구는 보스니아-헤르체고비나의 평화구축 경험을 통해 한반도 통일 과정에서 기독교회가 수행해야 할 역할을 모색한다. 특히 1992년부터 1995년까지의 내전과 데이턴 협정 이후의 평화구축 과정에서 종교기관들이 수행한 역할에 주목한다. 연구 결과, 교회는 화해와 평화구축의 주체로서 세 가지 핵심적 역할을 수행할수 있음을 확인했다. 첫째, 교회는 화해와 용서의 신학적 자원을 제공할 수 있다. 기독교의 화해 메시지는 분단으로 인한 상처의 치유와 용서를 위한 영적, 윤리적 기반을 제공한다. 둘째, 교회는 평화구축을 위한 실천적 플랫폼으로 기능할 수 있다. 특히 지역사회 차원에서 구체적인 화해 프로그램을 운영하고, 서로 다른 배경을 가진 사람들이 만나고 대화할 수 있는 공간을 제공할 수 있다. 셋째, 교회는 국제적 네트워크를 통해 평화구축을 위한 자원을 동원할 수있다. 세계 교회와의 연대는 평화 프로세스에 대한 국제적 지지와지원을 이끌어내는데 기여할 수 있다. 이러한 연구 결과를 바탕으로 한반도 통일 과정에서 교회가 수행해야 할 구체적인 역할과 과제를 제시한다.

Abstract

This study explores the role of Christian churches in the Korean unification process through the peace-building expe rience of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Particularly, it focuses on the role of religious institutions during the civil war (1992 1995) and the peace-building process after the Dayton Agree ment. The research confirms that churches can perform three key roles as agents of reconciliation and peace-building. First, churches can provide theological resources for reconciliation and forgiveness. The Christian message of reconciliation provides a spiritual and ethical foundation for healing wounds and forgiveness caused by division. Second, churches can function as practical platforms for peace-building. They can operate specific reconciliation programs at the community level and provide spaces where people from different backgrounds can meet and dialogue. Third, churches can mobilize resources for peace-building through international networks. Solidarity with the global church can contribute to garnering international support for the peace process. Based on these findings, this study suggests specific roles and tasks that churches should perform in the Korean unification process.
