영화 <지킬 박사와 하이드 씨>에 나타난 분열과 통합의 심리과정: 소설  지킬 박사와 하이드 씨의 기이한 사례 와 비교하여

Abstract

Dr Jekill and Mr Hyde represented as separated entity of good and evil are originated from good object and bad object pointed by Mélanie Klein as a psychological element regarding to the survival instinct. This fact concerns our study which is not yet explored by any previous study so far. That split can become even the split between idealization and extreme evilness, which can be observed not only at the clinical process but also in the so called normal cases. For instance, we have an inclination to define our identity with only one or few aspects believing that such is our real identity. But that is not exact in view of facts because it results from thus grasping only the parts of our being. This concerns also the psychological split which the fiction of Dr Jekill and Mr Hyde elucidates more clearly about the partial structure of our mind by their accentuated aspects. And that is why we analyse the novel of Stevenson by Klein’s notion of split and integration. Thus, our study even determines the way how the conditions of integration are deficient by lightening the different way of configuration of the novel and the film, which is the final aim of our study. The Dr Jekill’s split and absence of integration in the novel are confined to verbal expression whereas they are embodied by the performance of the role of Dr Jekill and the presence of the lady, which is more effective to visualize the relation between desire and split. Futhermore, in regard to the description of the mental of Jekill, the internal focalization in the novel is converted to the particular form of the film language, which corresponds to the use of mi-subject shot. After all, not only defining the psychological phenomenon of split but also inquiring into the phases of integration, this methode form the essential part as well as the fruit of our work. And we also indicated, in using the notion of the project, how the definition of Chartier about the split of subject and the split of object is wrong.
