장애인 동료상담 개념 구성요소의 상호작용 탐색연구: 장애인 자립생활센터를 중심으로

연구목적: 본 연구의 목적은 장애인 자립생활센터에서 실천되고 있는 동료상담 개념 구성요소의 상호작용과정을 밝히는 것이다. 연구방법: 활용된 연구법은 Northcutt과 McCoy(2004)의 상호작용질적분석법이다. 이를 위해 현장에서 활동하고 있는 동료상담가 27명이 선정되어 연구의 전 과정에참여하였다. 연구결과: 장애인 동료상담 개념 구성요소의 상호작용과정은 동료상담가와 이용자 사이의 상호 임파워먼트 과정으로 정의되었다. 이 상호작용과정에서 `개별화 자립지원'은 주요동인으로작용하며 구성동인인 `집단과정을 통한 자기개방', `자립생활 경험공유', `공감적 지지'에 영향을 준다. 구성동인들은 전환축인 `자립지향적 촉진활동'과 연결되어 내적 성과차원과 외적 성과차원이라는 2가지 차원 모두에 영향을 미친다. 내적 성과차원에 해당하는 군집은 `역할모델', `장애정체성 형성', `주체성 확립', `인간관계 재구성'이고, 외적 성과차원에 해당하는 군집은 `사회적 자원연결'이다. 주요성과는 `사회변화를 위한 옹호활동'과 `동료상담가의 성장'이다. 결론: 본 연구결과는 현장실무자들의 경험을 바탕으로 연구되었기 때문에 자립생활 현장에 적용가능성이 높으며, 동료상담이이용자의 임파워먼트 향상을 위해 어떻게 나아가야하는지 방향을 제시했다는 점에서 의미가 있다.
Abstract
Purpose: this study is to investigate components of peer counseling which is practiced in Centers for Independent Living(CIL) and find the interactions among those components. Method: Interactive Qualitative Analysis by Northcutt and McCoy(2004) was employed to analyze interactions among the components. 27 peer counselors in field was selected, and participated in all process of study. Results: interactive process of peer counseling was defined as mutual empowerment process between peer counselors and service users. In the interactive process, `Individualized supports for independent living' is functioned as primary driver and it affects on secondary driver clusters which include `Self-disclosure with group processing', `Sharing experience on independent living' and `Empathetic support'. Secondary driver clusters are connected to `Independent living focused facilitating activity' which is the central axis of the model, and affect on both dimensions of outcomes: Internal outcome dimension and External outcome dimension. Internal outcome dimension consists of `Role modeling', `Formation of disability identity', `Establishing subjectivity', and `Reconstructing human relations'. External outcome dimension only consists of `Connecting social resources'. Primary outcomes of the model are `Growth of peer counselor' and `Advocacy activity for social change'. Implications: The implication of this study is on that it is highly applicable to practical field of independent living since it was concluded based on lived experiences of hands-on peer counselor.
