초록
Spent nuclear fuel (SNF) is stored in an interim storage facility for a long period of time, and whensufficiently cooled, it is placed in a disposal canister and disposed of in deep geological repository. Since the capacityof a general disposal canister is smaller than that of an interim storage cask, a repackaging process is required. Duringthe repackaging process, if a canister-type cask is considered for interim storage, as in the U.S. or Korea, the storagecanister lid must be opened to extract the SNF. In order to open the canister lid, a sealed environment is requiredto prevent the leakage of radioactive materials, and a cutting equipment that can minimize contamination insideand outside the canister is also required. In this study, research cases related to canister cutting are reviewed andconsiderations for canister cutting equipment in a dry environment are discussed. In addition, an effective canister lidcutting method and processes are proposed.
