초록

We propose two-zone based harvest-then-cooperate for a multi-user wireless-powered communication network (WPCN) to overcome doubly near-far problem which causes a severe range discrimination. In the two-zone based multi-user WPCN, users in the inner region (Region 1) from the gateway act as relays for distant users in the outer region (Region 2) to upload their measured data to the gateway in two hops. We study an optimum boundary setting problem based on the minimum energy harvested in Region 1 such that users in Region 1 can use their residual energy for relaying data from users in Region 2, after using their harvested energy for uploading their own measured data to the gateway in one hop. With the pre-determined optimum boundary, the convex optimization technique is used to maximize the sum-throughput of two-zone based multi-user WPCN while maintaining fairness at a desired target level, which is then compared with the existing sum-throughput and common-throughput maximization techniques operated by the harvest-then-transmit.
