사회자본과 삶의 질의 관계 - 개인의 사회자본적 속성과 주관적 측면에서의 삶의 질을 중심으로 -

초록

이 연구에서는 개인의 사회자본적 속성과 주관적 측면에서의 개인의 삶의 질을 중심으로 사회자본과 삶의 질의 관계를 실증적으로 분석하였다. 주요 분석결과에 따르면, 개인의 사회자본적 속성은 전반적으로 주관적 측면에서의 개인의 삶의 질 향상에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 개인의 신뢰(일반적 신뢰, 제도적 신뢰)와 시민의식(사회규범) 수준이 높을수록 본인의 현재 경제적 상황이 안정적인 정도, 삶에 대한 만족도, 본인이 하는 일이 가치 있다고 생각하는 정도, 주관적 정서(행복감) 수준이 각각 더 높음을 알 수 있다. 아울러, 개인이 사회 네트워크 활동을 적극적으로 할수록 주관적 측면에서의 개인의 삶의 질 즉, 본인의 현재 경제적 상황이 안정적인 정도, 삶에 대한 만족도, 본인이 하는 일이 가치 있다고 생각하는 정도, 주관적 정서(행복감)에 대한 인식 수준이 각각 더 높은 것으로 나타났다. 그런데, 소극적 사회 네트워크 활동을 하는 개인의 경우에는 행복감이 오히려 더 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과들은 개인이 보유하고 있는 사회자본적 속성들이 주관적 측면에서의 개인의 삶의 질 향상에 중요한 요소임을 시사하고 있다. 그리고 사회자본을 구성하는 하위 구성요소들이 주관적 측면에서의 개인의 삶의 질에 미치는 영향은 삶의 질의 측정변수에 따라 달라질 수 있음을 이 연구의 분석결과를 통해 알 수 있다.

Abstract

This paper investigates the role of social capital in quality of life at the individual level focusing on personal social capital attributes and subjective quality of life. The empirical results suggest that higher social capital of individual is strongly associated with better subjective quality of life. Moreover, this study shows that the higher the levels of personal trust (generalized trust and institutional trust) and civic norms, the higher the degree to which the individual’s current economic situation is stable, the degree of life satisfaction of individual, the degree to which the individual believes that what he or she does is valuable, and the level of personal happiness. In addition, empirical results of this study suggest that the more active an individual is in social networking activities, the higher the subjective quality of life. However, in the case of individuals engaging in passive social networking activities, the level of personal happiness is found to be lower in this study. These findings imply that the social capital attributes possessed by individuals are important factors in improving the subjective quality of personal life. The findings also indicate that the impact of personal social capital attributes on the subjective quality of personal life depends on the indicators of the subjective quality of life.
