Objectives: Teachers often face excessive workloads when mediating school violence incidents. These can lead to stress and serious emotional challenges such as depression and anxiety. This study explored the application of Korean Medical Psychotherapy to alleviate symptoms of depression and anxiety in a teacher as a patient who experienced distress following a school violence incident. Methods: The Beck Depression Inventory, Beck Anxiety Inventory, and SCL-90-R were utilized to assess mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, and severity of these conditions of the patient. To address the patient’s emotional and physical difficulties, Exposure Mindfulness, a technique used in M&L psychotherapy, was implemented. Results: The patient who initially struggled to attend school gradually regained confidence in the role as a teacher through treatment. The patient was able to return to teaching earlier than expected. The BDI score decreased from 18 to 14. The BAI score dropped from 24 to 5 and the GSI score of the SCL-90-R reflecting the overall severity of symptoms significantly reduced from 90 to 37. Conclusions: This study demonstrated improvements in emotional issues that could arise within the specific occupational group of teachers, highlighting the potential of Korean Medical Psychotherapy to contribute to addressing social problems. Additionally, this treatment shows promise as a tailored approach, offering personalized care that can be adapted to individual needs and circumstances.
