Abstract
The aim of this study is to outline the meaning of the body’s movements in Jan Fabre’s dances. The subject discussed is the biological components of choreographer Jan Fabre’s dances, and the source of the form of the body and it’s shape. First, “I am blood”(Je suis Sang 2001) the power of the blood and the opposite, it’s weaknesses are shown. This idea complements an active and positive representation the body’s pure desire. Another meaning is how we are giving birth to the ideology of liberation in modern times. Second, in History of Tears” a man in despair in a desperate situation should not be helpless without an alternative. The world’s presence has been suggested that we should take care of each other. He calls this situation the process of seeking the truth with the representation of tears as life of the body to restore the original form of the human soul. Jan Fabre implemented the theatrical elements of a play and the freedom of the movements of the body to mix these two genres. “I am blood(Je suis Sang 2001)” and “History of Tears show joy, pain, sorrow and deep reflection about the meaning of the body and it’s movements. His dances contain a unique and profound way to show human nature as a metaphor successfully. Jan Fabre’s bodies of work emphasize human exploration and beyond his art, dance and culture of modern influences are broad. He has changed the way we think about modern art and how it’s presented in his dance.
