Abstract

A Contrastive Analysis on Expression of It is well elucidated by numerous research documents that the interference of mother tongue has great effect on learning foreign language. The effect is especially large for adults to learn foreign language. In the restricted scope of time expression and spatial expression, we speculated the interference of mother tongue spoken by Korean who learn Chinese language. To Put the Korean interference in simple terms, it is the interference of "case particle" which makes learners cause various types of errors by interference of their first language, Korean. In Korean, various time and spatial expressions are used without the change of word order but by case particles, but in Chinese, which doesn't have any postposition, these expressions are handled by word order or prepositions. In this respect, it is fallible for learners to understand how to correspond each case particles in Korean to that of Chinese which causes error easily. In other words, study on the features of Korean, especially on case particles which has numerous use is strongly needed for learners to acquire Chinese more accurately. It is natural procedure that adults come up first with the concept created by their first language and convert it to the counterpart of the target language, although the extent of this procedure varies according to the level of their study. Therefore the accurate understanding of their mother tongue will greatly assist learners to elicit the counterpart structure of foreign languages.
