Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to examine the theoretical characteristics of the Distributed Morphology, which has been proposed in the late 1990s as an alternative to the Lexicalist approach within the tradition of the Generative grammar. Based on this, this paper reflects on the studies of Korean grammar, which has been conducted heavily based on a Lexicalist point of view. Distributed Morphology has important theoretical implications in terms of morpho-syntax and syntax-semantics interfaces, such as word formation, argument structure, and idioms. Examining how these implications provide insight into Korean grammar is meaningful in that this will complement and enrich investigations of the Korean grammar.
