Abstract
The Changes and Prospects of Chinese Rural Development Strategy in the Hu Jintao Era Lee, Dong-young·Nam, Jong-ho This paper provides an overview of the substances and outcomes of Chinese rural development strategies since 1978 and the review of Chinese new rural policies, this is, building new socialist countryside(Jianshe Shehuizhuyi Xin Nongcun) in the Hu Jintao era. Especially, this paper focused on three topics. First of all, why Hu Jintao has brought up social harmony(Hexie Shehui) at today? Secondary, was the basis of Chinese development strategy changed or not? Thirdly, what are the contents of Chinese new rural development strategies? In conclusion, this paper argued that the basis of Chinese new rural development strategy was changed from the pivot of increase of agricultural productivity to the pivot of development of non-agricultural parts in rural China.
