Abstract
This article analyzes the theories that Mengzi(孟子)‘ made mention of interpretation. These theories are sumed up as 'encountering intention with Interpretation(以意逆志)'and 'understanding the person and environment of the times(知人論世)'. This article shows that the one associates with the psychological methord of interpretation and the other associates with the historical methord of interpretation. These two theores are not so much mutually in consistent as mutually benifical interaction. These two theories that Mengzi(孟子)‘ attempted influenced on the later ages and produced two powerful methordologies for the traditional Chinese literarture crititism and the theory of interpretation
