『금각사(金閣寺)』 삽화(揷話) 연구 –우이코 이야기를 중심으로–

Abstract

This paper analyzed the plot, character, and the symbolism of narration only on one illustration of Uiko and navy deserter inserted in the novel 『Geumgaksa』. As a result, it was verified that the illustration on Uiko, if it is taken out, it has a perfect system of a short story or a one-act play within itself. First of all, in the frame with introduction, development, turn, and conclusion with added reversal, a completed plot such as puzzle was used, and also in the character, as the perception of the main character with the author’s aesthetic sense embedded and the realizer of the erotism, the dramatic appearance of Uiko and her deserter lover and their ends are exquisitely described. This officialized the unwritten law that the main character is alienated or the subject of the aesthetic jealousy dies young, which is cast as the sentiment of the entire novel, and we could find that it acts as the sign to have a hunch of the atmosphere of the entire novel. Also, the unconventional behavior due to the eccentricity of the main character, paradoxical awareness of reality, death of Uiko, etc. are not the curtain closed setting but symbolize the jump away from the attribute to a concept rather than the setting of the foretelling or reality, so we could find that it is the structure enabling the presentiment of eternal and fierce antagonistic relationship between the main character and the outside. In short, we verified that this illustration is the being like integrated compressed file or miniature that processed the original form of this novel with the concept of Mishima, and they are all understood as the output from the result of combining the unique style of the writer, mature stage, and the disposition of the entertainment thinking of the readers of the newspaper serial novel.
