Abstract
In this study, analysis of ;job-hunting students’ jargon’ and frequently occurring vocabulary as the language of the group with ‘Job Hunting Senryu’ as the subject was attempted from the perspective of mental imagery of job-hunting students as described through the use of such jargon and vocabulary. As the result, a diverse range of expressions with the characteristics of language of a group that ‘the format of word was modified, or the meaning has been modified even if the format is the same’ from the perspective of ‘job-hunting students’ jargon’ were extracted. First, as the examples of ‘changes in the format of words’, processes of expressing the expression in the sentence form of “gakusei jidaini chikara wo ireta koto (things focused upon during student years)” as “gaku chika” or modifying “naitei ga nai (there is no company from which a job offer is received)” into “nai tei” and abbreviating it as “NNT”, as well as the typical clipped words of expressing “recruit suit (Japanese made English)” as “riku-su”, etc. were confirmed. Second, as the examples of ‘changes in meaning’, it was observed that “inori (prayer)” signifies “notification of failure” and that the term “onsya (your company)” refers to the company one applied to for a job and even using it as a verb form of “onsya suru”. Moreover, there were vocabulary terms such as “ice age” and “seller’s market” that symbolize the situations of job hunting activities in each era as well as “God” used in combination with job-hunting students’ jargon while several vocabulary terms of ‘Job Hunting Senryu’ such as ‘internal determination’ and ‘interview’ were collected from the perspective of frequently occurring vocabulary. Lastly, from the perspective of the mental imagery of job-hunting students, images of learning many things in their lives such as their subtle human relationships and psychology, as well as looking back on their lives through job hunting activities or the harshness of society and gratitude to their parents are being depicted vividly.
