The purpose of this study is to examine the achievements of Local Studies with a view of history, literature, and linguistics. This study finds that there have been a variety of the methodologies for Local Studies, based on the necessity to deeply focus on Local Studies with an ‘Eye of the specific Local.’ In Local Studies, as for locality, it is greatly considered how to find and structure. As it is widely known, locality is primarily based on specialty combined with unique local culture, history, and geography. Therefore, a slightly different methodology of specific and positive-centered regional studies has been recently utilized. In this study, the methodology using universal locality, preceding over the locality of individual and specific area, is suggested. At this point, it is assumed that locality with specialty and universality will be widely focused on with a wide range of viewpoints. In addition, Local Studies can be more meaningful seeking for universality in the global world where a growing number of people try to find the commonalities among different regions. However, there still remains a necessity to seek for specific methodologies for positive application, totally deviating from existing methodologies of Local Studies revealing recursive errors.
