초기 청소년기 방임 경험과 이후의 비행에 관한 연구: 공격성의 종단적 매개효과

초록

본 연구의 목적은 가정 내 방임 노출이 공격성의 종단적 매개효과를 통해 비행에 미치는 영향을 검증하여 정책적, 실천적 개입의 단초를 제공하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 한국아동․청소년 패널조사 2010(KCYPS)의 초등학교 4학년 패널데이터에서 2〜3차(초등학교 5, 6학년, 이하 각 ‘T1’, ‘T2’), 5차∼7차년도(중학교 2학년∼고등학교 1학년, 각 T3, T4, T5) 데이터를 활용하여 초, 중학생 총 1,757명의 응답자료를 최종분석 자료로 활용하였다. 주요 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, T1 방임 피해 청소년은 16.0%(n=281)이었고, 피해자일수록 전반적인 공격성 및 T5 비행 수준이 높은 경향성을 보였다. 둘째, 연구모형 검증 결과, T1 방임은 공격성의 초기값(I)에는 유의미한 영향을 미쳤으나 변화율(S)에 그렇지 않은 것으로 검증되었다. 셋째, T1 방임, 공격성 초기값(I)과 변화율(S) 중에서는 오직 공격성 초기값(I)만이 T5 비행에 정적으로 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 검증되었다. 이는 T1 방임 및 공격성의 변화율(S)이 T5 비행에 직접적인 영향을 미치지 않으나, 오직 공격성의 초기값(I)을 통해서만 매개효과를 가지는 일종의 완전매개효과가 검증되었음을 의미한다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 방임 피해 청소년들의 공격성 완화 및 비행 예방을 위한 정책적, 실천적 함의를 논의하였다.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the link between early adolescence neglect and later delinquency through the longitudinal mediating effect of aggression. We used data from the 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th and 7th (hereafter each ‘T1’, ‘T2’, ‘T3’, ‘T4’, and ‘T5’) survey waves collected from 1,757 adolescents by the Korean Children & Youth Panel Survey 2010 (KCYPS). The results of this study are as follows: First, those who experienced neglect at the time of T1 showed higher level of aggression during the time between T2 and T4. At the time of T5, neglected adolescents showed high level of delinquency as well. Second, neglect at the time of T1 was significantly linked to the baseline of aggression. Third, only the baseline of aggression was associated with delinquency at the time of T5. This implies that the neglect at the time of T1 had an indirect effect on the delinquency only through the baseline of aggression. On the basis of these findings, political and practical implications to mitigate aggression during early adolescence and to prevent juvenile delinquency were discussed.
