유치원의 일일 교육 계획안에 나타난 민주 시민 교육 내용과 활동 유형 분석

본 연구는 유치원의 일일 교육 계획안에 나타난 민주 시민 교육 내용을 알아보고, 어떠한 활동 유형으로 이루어지는 지 알아보는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 강원도, 경기도, 경상도, 전라도 및 충청도 지역의 각 유치원에서 1년간 활용된 일일 교육 계획안을 분석하였다. 그 결과 첫째, 유치원에서의 민주 시민 교육은 “공공 질서” 범주의 교육 내용에 편향되어 이루어지고 있으며, “자문화와 타문화의 이해”, “민주 사회에서의 절차”, “인간의 존엄성” 및 “합리적 의사 결정 능력” 범주의 교육 내용은 상대적으로 낮은 발생 빈도로 이루어졌다. 둘째, “공공 질서” 범주의 교육 내용은 하루 일과에서 지속적으로 이루어지고 있는 데 반해, 나머지 범주의 교육 내용은 자유 선택 활동과 대·소집단 활동을 통해서만 이루어지는 것으로 나타났다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to analyze the content and activity type of democratic civic education in the daily education plan of kindergartens. The results obtained from the study were as follows: First, according to the “public order” category democratic civic education in kindergartens was found to be largely lopsidedly practiced. In addition, “understanding Korean and foreign culture”, “procedures in a democratic society”, “ability of rational decision-making”, and “dignity of mankind” categories were found to be practiced relatively low frequency. Second, the “public order” category was continuously exercised in every activity including attendance, free-choice play, arrangement, group activity, snack and lunch time, and returning home. On the contrary “dignity of mankind”, “procedures in a democratic society”, “ability of rational decision-making”, and“understanding Korean and foreign culture” categories were seen only in free-choice play and group activity.
