초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze the methods and techniques used for constructing the dolmens in the Old Joseon Period. The dolmens built in the Old Joseon Period function as the altars and graves. The results of investigation are as follows:1. The ratio of length and width of the cap-stone is mainly 1.5 : 1, which is similar to the golden ratio(1.618 : 1) used in the architecture of Ancient Egypt. 2. There are dents in the sides of cap-stones and stone-props which are supposed to be used for binding the rope for conveyance. These dolmens are Haicheng Ximucheng No. 1, Wafangdian Taizei, Dashiqiao Shipengyu and Yeoncheon Tonghyeon-ri No. 3. 3. The wedge stones are put between cap-stones and stone-props to balance the cap-stones. The dolmens using this method are Fushun Shanlong No. 1, Liuhe Taipinggou No. 11 and Anak Roam-ri. 4. Grengi Technique is used in the dolmens of Ganghwa Jeomgol to mate cap-stones with stone props tightly. This method is to stack the gathered stones without trimming them. 5. It is investigated that long grooves on the stone props are hollowed out so that the stone props can be mated with the blocking stones tightly. These dolmens are Anak Roam-ri, Zhuanghe Baidianz, Zhuanghe Dahuangdi and Gaizhou Shipengshan. 6. The balance of dolmens is kept by having the stone props slanted slightly inward. This fact plays an important role in understanding the constructing skills in the Old Joseon Period.
