원예작물의 로열티 추정과 품종개발 방향

Abstract

The ultimate goal of this study is to present a direction and tasks for developing various seeds of horticulture plants. Korea's technology level of horticultural seed development varies greatly depending on the type of horticulture plants. The level of seed development for some vegetables grown outdoors, such as radish, cabbage and pepper, is appraised to be of the world's highest standard. However, in the case of most fruit vegetables and flowers, the technology level lags behind that of developed countries leading the horticulture industry and, as a result, the country is highly dependent on foreign imports. The use of foreign breeds leads to royalty payments. In order to facilitate effective development of seeds in the country, goals for seed development must be defined and the direction and tasks to be pursued must be specifically stated. The goal for seed development is to raise the income of horticulture growers through seed cost reduction and royalty savings and to strengthen the seed industry by expanding domestic consumption and exports. The direction for plant development is to develop consumer-satisfying, export-competitive breeds that can replace imports.
