Abstract

LetX;Y be vector spaces. It is shown that if an evenmapping f :X ! Y satisesf(0) = 0 and(0.1)fx + y2+ z+ fx + y2z+ fx y2+ z+ fx y2z= f(x) + f(y) + 4 f(z)for allx;y;z2 X , then the mapping f :X ! Y is quadratic.Furthermore, we prove the Cauchy{Rassias stability of the func-tional equation (0.1) in Banach spaces.
