성매매 청소년의 자의식 탐색

초록

본 연구는 성매매 청소년들의 성매매 경험 후의 자의식의 변화를 파악하여 이들의 실제 체험에 대한 이해를 얻음과 동시에 사회복지적인 개입의 기초자료를 마련하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 성매매를 경험한 여자청소년들 총11명을 대상으로 심층면접과 참여관찰을 통해 자료를 수집하였으며, 사례연구방법론을 적용하여 각 사례별 경험을 설명 구축하기(explanation-building)의 방법을 통하여 자료를 분석하였다. 연구결과, 성매매 청소년들은 성매매 행위를 통해 자의식의 변화로써 사적 및 공적 자의식과 사회불안을 모두 경험하였다. 특히, 사적 자의식이 높은 참여자들은 자신에 대해 부정적, 긍정적 인식 및 평가가 모두 나타났다. 한편, 공적 자의식과 사회불안이 높은 참여자들은 대인관계 및 사회생활에서 높은 불안감과 소외감을 보였다. 이들은 또한 자신의 미래에 대해서도 부정적인 신념과 낮은 자존감을 갖고 있었다. 결국, 이러한 자의식의 변화는 지지체계와 높은 관련성이 있는 것으로 나타났다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to provide the basic data for intervention plan of social welfare as well as understand real experience of juvenile prostitutes by examining the change of self-consciousness after they engaged in prostitution. The data were collected through the in-depth interview and observation with eleven female juvenile who had the experience of juvenile prostitution. And these were analysed by using case study methodology. The study showed that subjects experienced private self-conscious- ness, public self-consciousness, and social anxiety after they took part in the prostitution. Especially participants who have high level of private self-consciousness recognized and assessed affirmatively as well as negatively about themselves. However, those who have high level of public self-consciousness and social anxiety showed the emotion of anxiety and depression at the interpersonal relationship and social life. Also they had negative belief system and low self-esteem for the future. Finally the change of self-consciousness was connected with social support system.
