이 연구는 사이버공간에서의 익명성이 청소년언어폭력에 미치는 영향을 다룸에 있어 익명성이외에 기존 청소년비행연구에서 사용되었던 요인들을 함께 고려하여 어떠한 요인이 보다 설명력이 높은가를 살펴보려고 한다. 기존의 오프라인상의 폭력비행연구들에서 강조되어 왔던 요인들은 가정환경요인이나 비행친구와의 접촉, 폭력용인태도, 자기통제력 등이다. 그러나 이 연구에서 특별히 주목하고 있는 것은 사이버공간에서의 언어폭력이 일어나기 위해서는 익명성과 아울러 그러한 요인들이 필요충분조건으로서 동시에 고려되어야 할 것이라는 점에 있다. 이 연구는 사이버 언어폭력에 대한 통합론적 설명을 제시하여 이를 경험연구를 통해 검증해보려는 데에 목적을 두고 있다. 연구결과에서는 익명성의 영향력이 유의하였고, 비행친구와의 접촉과 자기통제력이 익명성과는 독립적으로 중요한 요인으로 작용했지만 익명성과 사이버언어폭력에 대한 태도는 서로 상호작용효과를 갖는 것으로 나타나 두 요인이 복합적으로 작용한다는 결과를 제시했다.
Abstract
This study intends to test the effect of anonymity on cyber flaming behavior. In addition, this study compares its effect with social and individual factors emphasized in prior research on violent delinquency and also tries to test an integrated model. Using data from 1113 male and female middle/high school student in Seoul, this article examines the each independent effect of anonymity, affectional bonds with parents, parental coercive maltreatment, associations with delinquent peers, attitudes favorable to violence, attitudes favorable to violence on cyber-space, and self control on online violent delinquency and also the interaction effect of anonymity with other variables. Findings reveal that the effect of anonymity is significant, but the effect of attitudes favorable to cyber flaming is largest, and the effects of association with delinquent peers and low self-control are significant. Results also show that the interaction effect of anonymity with attitudes favorable to cyber flaming is significant. The policy implications of those results are discussed.
